I’ve been in IT since right after college, and my first job was a real trial by fire. I stepped in to run a one-man-band IT support company while the owner dealt with serious health issues. Talk about a steep learning curve! My people skills were minimal, and my technical skills were just as limited. But this challenging start turned out to be the best foundation I could have asked for. With no one to hand problems off to, I had to figure things out on my own or find creative workarounds.
This experience laid the groundwork for my entire IT career. Nearly 20 years later, I still rely on that same determination and resourcefulness to learn, develop, and master new technologies and systems.
